1W and 3W with 100% 

2W and 5B with 99%.

We are very proud of our consistently high attendance. It means that because our children are at school, they receive the best possible opportunities to learn, play with friends and take part in wonderful activities. 

Reminders for parents

Friday 22nd November School Closed for staff training

In the previous newsletter, we asked parents to park sensibly and with consideration to other road users, pedestrians and residents. We know there is always traffic leading to ur school from all directions. Please help us to keep everyone safe by walking to school. If you have to use a car, park further away and walk. Do not drop your child off on the yellow zigzag lines outside your school. It is dangerous and unnecessary. If you see an issue relating to traffic, please contact the Council. 

Thank you to parents who have paid the Maintenance Fund contribution of £35. This money is used to ensure that our buildings and ground are in good condition and safe for our pupils and staff. Please remember you can pay for the maintenance fund in instalments on your ParentPay account.

Parent Meetings will take place in school on Tuesday 19th and Thursday 21st November. Please make sure you have booked your time. Year 5 and Year 6 pupils are expected to attend the meetings. 

Christmas performance dates and times will be sent out next week to parent in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2.

Christmas Fayre - Friday 29th November

The PTA members have been as busy as Santa's elves, getting things ready for our Christmas Fayre on Friday 29th November. 

The fair will take place from 3pm - 5pm in and around the main building and on some of the playground. We want to make the most of the daylight, which is why it will start at 3pm.

 We have the Junior Choir singing, as well as other performers and the Musical Theatre group.

End of the day arrangements

For this day only, the children will be dismissed from their lines and doors at 3 p.m. For any parents who are unable to arrive until 3.30 p.m. please do not worry. The children will be taken back to the classroom and dismissed again at 3.30 p.m. Year 5 children will be dismissed from the main playground near the MUGA, for this day only.

A great success at the Fireworks Display

The fireworks night at Botany Bay proved to be a very busy event! A huge thank you to parents who bought tickets, food and light up toys. A huge thank you to the PTA members for the hours before, during and after the event. What an amazing sum of money to raise. Well done everyone!

St. Andrew's School remembers

To commemorate Remembrance Day, our school community gave generously the to the British Legion Poppy Appeal. Many thanks to the Year 6 House and Vice Captains, who volunteered to come in early to school and after school to sell poppies and other items. 

Over the week, the junior children learnt and sang a beautiful song called 'Armistice Day' as Miss Mann led Collective Worship on Remembrance Day. At 11 o'clock, the school fell silent, to show respect to those who sacrificed their lives for our country. Throughout the week, class buddies joined together to paint pictures of poppies.

Anti- Bullying Week

Last week, our school took part in the national Anti-Bullying Week, organised by the Anti-Bullying Alliance. Our Year 2 teacher and PSHE Lead, Mrs Cahalan, led a whole school assembly, with the theme being 'CHOOSE RESPECT.' She talked about bullying - what it is and what it is not and the children listened to important information about how to empower themselves to choose respect.  

To add to the week, children and adults took part in Odd Socks Day, to recognise and appreciate how different we all are. Y2 and Y6 buddies caught up and talked together about how they were all unique and 3W posed with their collection of odd socks! A wonderful way to demonstrate our school values.

Congratulations to Charlie in Y4

A few weeks ago, Charlie in 4W played in a tournament, as part of the Watford Football Academy. Charlie and his team played against other academies, including Arsenal, Crystal Palace and Tottenham. His team won 6 matches and drew 1, which made them overall Champions. We are super proud of Charlie and look forward to hearing more about his successes in the coming months.

Year 4 visit the Dharma Mandir in Enfield

Last week, the Year 4 children took the bus to the Dharma Mandir temple, as par of their RE unit on Hinduism. They heard the story of Rama and Sita and learned about how the festival of Diwali began. They also had the opportunity to hear a dol (Hindu drum) being played. Our children showed impeccable manners, as always and our school has been invited to return next year.

Visit to the Council Chambers at the Civic Centre

Yesterday, Elaine and William in Year 6 attended a book launch with Mrs Statham, courtesy of the Mayor of Enfield. The event, which was open to primary schools, was used to promote local authors from diverse backgrounds and to encourage all primary school children to try out some new and familiar books by a range of authors. Elaine and William came back with a bag full of books to share around the classrooms.

Enfield Town Schools Partnership - Spelling Bee

Over the past three weeks, Mrs Meekin and Miss Jones have been busy running Spelling Bee competition rounds. Over 130 children (over a quarter of the school!) took part, with 12 pupils from Year 1 to Year 6 reaching the grand final. The final will be between other schools in the Town Partnership on 26th November. Good luck to all our Super Spellers:

WRAP UP LONDON REMINDER

If you have any coats - adults or children's - which you do not need, please bring them to school by 21st November. All coats will be donated to the charity.
